The joys of working from home

So, my beloved mother-in-law clipped this out of the newspaper. I think she knows me pretty well by now. When it gets busy around here, she is always quick to help out with babysitting. My mom helps out too, always asking me if I need help or if it has been a busy week. Yesterday, she surprised me and picked up the kids so I could get some work done. Sigh--I'm so thankful for family.

I'd like to think I'm better than this-the comic that is. Well certainly, my olive skin would never turn that red, nor would I wear that outfit or use that fabric choice ha ha! I have to admit though, that I do have my days. Sometimes running a business and staying at home with 2 little boys doesn't mix. But, I am so thankful to be able to do it. I get asked a lot "How do you do it?" First of all, it takes lots and lots of coffee, a love for your craft, determination and sometimes just plain old-fashion sleep deprivation. Sometimes I am in awe of a few famous blog-moms who seem to have it all together all the time. I certainly don't. I do love what I do, however, and that makes it all worth it.

My oldest son is my biggest fan. He tells everyone that his mommy "makes the beautiful-est fabric in the world." He's an accomplished artist, that one, or maybe I'm his biggest fan in return. I'm glad to share this venture with my family. It's so much fun!

I love getting emails from people who love their Polkadot Papoose! I smile from ear to ear each time I receive one. I know how much a sling can save a mom's life--That's why I make them. And of course, nothing is cuter than a sweet baby all curled up in a sling--seriously! Please keep these emails coming. They are such an encouragement to me =)

I have to tell you what a Godsend your sling has been for me. I have had it less than a week but I don't know what I'd do without it now. I had to let our nanny go a few days ago and the sling has literally been my savior. Today while my 3-year-old was at camp, my son slept in it while I did two loads of laundry, cooked dinner had lunch and returned calls and emails...Thank you so much for such a fabulous product! I am so glad I ordered it!

Back from the Sunshine State

What can I say....I'm in love with Florida in the Springtime. I just got back from my 8 days of rest and relaxation. Wow I really needed all that sunshine! There's my new favorite baby (besides mine of course) all snug in his Polkadot Papoose. His mom is adorable too, and my most cherished friend. This child is a perfect angel; I'm so in love with him! I had such a great time, but now it's time to go back to work.

Keep checking back, we have some new designs in the works over here at Polkadot Papoose. I'm so excited to get to going on them.

Polkadot Papoose Helps Nuture Foster Kids

Polkadot Papoose recently donated our previous line to the foster moms of Manatee County Florida. It was so fun to hear about how delighted the moms were to receive their very own sling. I wish I could have been there to see their faces. Here is an exerpt from a letter I received from one of the foster moms:

I'm 56 and currently have a 5 day old little boy, Samuel, and a 5 month old little girl, Bethany. I cannot tell you how incredibly helpful the papoose has been, especially with Samuel. He LOVES to be snuggled inside and is always happy in it. This afternoon I was able to feed Bethany her cereal, fold laundry, change two crib sheets and sweep the kitchen floor--all while Samuel was in the papoose and was feeling loved and secure. Thank you for sharing the papooses with those of us who foster. I'm sure mine will be used with baby after baby!! I like it better than my Baby Bjorn!

My heart smiled. I'm so happy these precious little ones are receiving such great care from these loving and giving mothers.

Polkadot Papoose has had such a fantastic beginning. We've been sewing away filling new orders. I am so happy to be working with all this luscious fabric. Stay tuned. There is a new line in the works. I have my eye on some new fabric lines that are in development. I can't wait to get my hands on some!

Polkadot Papoose has arrived!

I am delighted to introduce you to Polkadot Papoose.

For months I have considered design and color, pattern and comfort. I asked myself what I had to offer other moms in the world to make their lives easier. Mostly, I have thought of you and your darling little ones. I remembered what it was like to cradle my own son's tiny body in my first sling and how he peered at me from his little nest. Those were precious times between us. We spent many hours cuddled close to one another as we got to know each other. I want that for you too, to experience what bonding with your child can be at this level, for him or her to feel safe nestled close to you.

I want to thank my precious friends who have labored with me too. They have had a big part in many of the final decisions I made in choosing this or that. They have supported me in so many ways, and I am incredibly thankful. I adore you AMJ and LAC. You are the best friends a girl could have.

Please tell your friends and family to visit. I look forward to hearing from you!
